Scandalous is the third book in L.J. Shen’s Sinners of Saint series, and it’s every bit as addictive, unpredictable, and scorching hot as the previous books. I feel like I’m being redundant gushing about this series.
Trent is the quiet one among the group of four best friends that make up the obscenely wealthy and ruthless HotHoles. He’s also a single father to a troubled little girl, Luna. Edie is the teenage daughter of Trent’s business partner and archenemy. The book is aptly named because the affair between Trent and Edie is nothing less than scandalous.
I admit that the prospect of reading about a romance between a 33-year-old man and an 18-year-old girl made me a little uneasy. I don’t do the whole daddy romance trope. Fortunately, there’s no “daddy” role playing going on here. Edie is unquestionably responsible and seems older than her years. Still, I could never fully overlook their age difference—especially given her young age. Maybe if she was at least of drinking age? I don’t know. At least their chemistry is on point.
I loved the cat and mouse games between Trent and Edie. Their intense attraction despite mutual distrust creates an intriguingly tense balance. When the two of them collide, prepare yourself for some seriously panty melting, raunchy action.
My favorite aspect of the story is Trent’s devotion to his daughter, Luna, and her affectionate relationship with Edie. There are a couple other interesting supporting characters. Edie’s dad is at the core of all conflicts. He’s one of those super villains that shows his callousness in every chapter. The other HotHoles make appearances, but I greedily wanted more. I will never get enough of them.
Here’s to another douchebag being bitten by the love bug, and another interesting story that’s difficult to put down.
