How is it time for the Best Books of 2023 already? The year whizzed by in a flurry of activity, and I found that I had less time to read than normal. For the first time ever I was in danger of not meeting my reading goal, but I made it at the final hour! To be fair though, I choose to read some very long books. 60 books and 24,040 pages read. Here are ten books published in 2023 that I most enjoyed, in no particular order.
Year: 2023
Review: Woke Up Like This by Amy Lea
Well, wasn’t this absolutely adorable? 13 Going on 30 is one of those rom coms I never get tired of watching, and Woke Up Like This is reminiscent of that film, only instead of middle school friends, the protagonists are two high school seniors who are enemies.
Audiobook Review: Outlander by Diana Gabaldon
Whew! That was a long one. It took me over 32 hours to listen to the audiobook. Outlander is a sweeping historical romance, but even with the excellent narration, I felt winded by the end.
Review: Broken Dreams by Corinne Michaels
Raising children is hard, and nobody is more deserving of happiness than people who are raising children alone. Broken Dreams hit my romantic soft spot since it features not one but two single parents finding love the second time around.
Review: Check & Mate by Ali Hazelwood
Check & Mate is Ali Hazelwood’s first venture into the young adult/new adult arena. I listened to the audiobook, which boasts impeccable narration by Karissa Vacker. Combined with an excellent story, it makes for an entertaining listening experience.
Spotlight: The Whole Time by Catherine Bybee
From New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Catherine Bybee comes a tale of a strong-willed dancer exercising her independence and the rich biker she can’t let go.
Excerpt: He’s Not My Type by Meghan Quinn
He’s Not My Type by Meghan Quinn releases November 28th, and we know you can’t wait, so we’ve got an excerpt to hold you over.
Audiobook Review: Love, Theoretically by Ali Hazelwood
I thought I’d had my fill of Ali Hazelwood’s women in STEM romances, but apparently I was wrong because Love, Theoretically knocked me off my feet.
Audiobook Review: Riley Thorn and the Dead Guy Next Door by Lucy Score
What a great kickoff to the series! Riley Thorn and the Dead Guy Next Door is wonderfully entertaining.
Top Ten Tuesday: Book Titles That Would Make Great Newspaper Headlines
Welcome to Top Ten Tuesday, a weekly feature hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. This week’s topic is Book Titles That Would Make Great Newspaper Headlines (Submitted by Cathy @ What Cathy Read Next). This topic is so fun and open to interpretation. I had a hard time narrowing my list down to ten books!
Review: Because of Her by Jewel E. Ann
The Jack & Jill series is undoubtedly author Jewel E. Ann’s best work. Because of Her is the final book in the series. It’s billed as a standalone, but it would be tragic to miss out on the beautiful journey her unforgettable characters take.
Review: I’m Your Guy by Sarina Bowen
With I’m Your Guy, Sarina Bowen once again combines MM romance with hockey and comes out winning.
