From the international bestselling author of The Simple Wild comes Forever Wild, a novella that continues the story of Calla's journey to the Alaskan wild and a life she never imagined for herself.

The holiday season is upon Calla and Jonah, and with the mistletoe and gingerbread comes plenty of family drama. Jonah is bracing himself for two weeks with a stepfather he loathes, and while Calla is looking forward to her mother and Simon's arrival, she dreads the continued pressure to set a date for their wedding ... in Toronto. Add in one bullheaded neighbor's unintentional meddling and another cantankerous neighbor's own family strife, and Christmas in Trapper's Crossing will be anything but simple.

Thank you, K.A. Tucker, for this wonderful treat! I absolutely loved The Simple Wild duet and this novella made me want to read the series all over again.

Forever Wild teaser

I remember how lost, lonely, and frightened Calla was living in remote Alaska. Those days are in the past, and it warmed my heart to see the former spoiled city girl take pride in the quiet yet beautiful life she has created with Jonah. And who could be lonely when surrounded by her wacky neighbors.

The holiday season in snowy Alaska creates a charming winter wonderland for all my favorite characters to be reunited. Pushy but well-meaning Muriel is back, as is Roy, the curmudgeon with a secretly soft heart. We get to see all kinds of family dynamics at work when Calla’s and Jonah’s parents come to visit. Even old friends Agnes and Mabel return.

The pressure to plan a wedding features prominently in the plot and that brings with it some stress, but also lots of joy and tenderness. I only have a teensy complaint that one particular scene is cut short, but I’m willing to overlook it.

The series is complete without this novella, but Forever Wild is a delightful cherry on top and the perfect way to end Jonah and Calla’s love story. If you remember Jonah’s friend Marie, the veterinarian who had a thing for Jonah, you might be interested to know she’s getting her own story. I’ll be adding it to my TBR list.
