Virgin. Sex addict. Daredevil. Alcoholic. Smartass … Jackass. Her five friends are about to be filmed. Reality TV, be prepared.

Rose Calloway thought she had everything under control. At twenty-three, she’s a Princeton graduate, an Academic Bowl champion, a fashion designer and the daughter of a Fortune 500 mogul. But with a sex addict as a sister and roommate, nothing comes easy.

After accepting help from a producer, Rose agrees to have her life filmed for a reality television show. The Hollywood exec is her last chance to revive her struggling fashion line, and boundaries begin to blur as she’s forced to make nice with a man who always has his way.

Twenty-four-year-old Connor Cobalt is a guy who bulldozes weak men. He’s confident, smart-as-hell and lives with his equally ambitious girlfriend, Rose Calloway. Connor has to find a way to protect Rose without ruining the show. Or else the producer will get what Connor has always wanted—Rose’s virginity.

This New Adult Standalone Romance can be described as Friends meets The Real World. Expect fist fights, drugs, sex of varying degrees, crude humor and competitive alpha males. Definitely for mature readers audiences only.

Krista and Becca Ritchie’s books tend to be on the long side. Kiss the Sky is nearly 450 pages and the audiobook is 14 hours long. I never once felt bored, though, or wanted to story to move faster. In fact, the end is so swoony and satisfying I didn’t want it to end. Talk about getting a bang for your buck!

Place three sisters and their significant others in the same house together, film them 24/7 for a reality show, and you have a story that is ripe with humor, misunderstandings, manipulations, scandal, and lots of love. It is fascinating to see the way actual events can be edited to create an alternate “reality” for the sake of drama.

The Calloway sisters are distinctly different. I love Rose’s concern and devotion to her sisters’ wellbeing. She is brilliant, fearless, and a stubborn man eater who also happens to be an ambitious fashion designer. Daisy, meanwhile, is a rising fashion model with a wild streak and a tendency to be easily manipulated. Lily is very vulnerable and awkward after being publicly exposed as a sex addict.

Connor Cobalt oozes confidence, calm, and intelligence. He knows what he wants and is determined to have it all—no matter the cost. The thing he wants most is Rose, but he has to knock down her formidable walls first. I love how Connor and Rose challenge each other. They are equally matched in terms of brains and emotional strength, and their sparring is very appealing. Their little exchanges in French are wonderful.

All the men are extremely protective of the Calloway sisters, and I ate it up. The next book, Hothouse Flower, is Ryke and Daisy’s story, and I plan to dive right in.

About the Audiobook
I was prepared to hate the audio. Initially, I thought Mark Boyett was totally ill cast. He speaks the first few lines and I immediately conjured up an image of an old man instead of a strong and sexy 24-year-old. Surprisingly, Boyett performs the hell out of Connor and all the other characters as well—and I do mean perform. It is not a mere recitation of the words. He fills each sentence with intent and creates a well-rounded picture of Connor. Therese Plummer fully embraces Rose, and delivers her narration with impeccable warmth, determination, and believability. Well done!
