You'd think a billion dollars, a professional hockey team and a six-bedroom mansion on the Promenade would satisfy a guy. You'd be wrong.

For seven years Rebecca has brightened my office with her wit and her smile. She manages both my hockey team and my sanity. I don't know when I started waking in the night, craving her. All I know is that one whiff of her perfume ruins my concentration. And her laugh makes me hard.

When Rebecca gets hurt, I step in to help. It's what friends do. But what friends don't do is rip off each others' clothes for a single, wild night together.

Now she's avoiding me. She says we're too different, and it can never happen again. So why can't we keep our hands off each other?

The books in the Brooklyn Bruisers series have been hit or miss for me, but Brooklynaire is a friends-to-lovers story that hits all the right notes.

I loved seeing the more personal side of Nate Kattenberger—quirky tech genius (and creator of the much talked about Katt phone) and billionaire owner of the Brooklyn Bruisers NHL team. He is a man who truly has it all, but is very much alone and lonely in his private life.

Rebecca Rowley began working as an office manager for Nate seven years ago when his startup tech company was still in its infancy and before Nate had money. I really enjoyed how their friendship grew throughout the years as the company achieved massive success and Nate acquired a professional hockey team.

I know some would throw a feminist handbook at me, but I rather like it when a heroine is injured and the hero is so worried sick he steps in to take care of all her needs. Actually, I like it when the roles are reversed also, so maybe I don’t need to duck that flying handbook after all. Rebecca is so used to taking care of everyone around her that I especially enjoyed Nate’s concern and determination to take care of her while she recovers from an accident.

The story is relatively drama free, with the main conflict arising from concern about any potential fallout from a boss-employee affair. The issue isn’t played with a heavy hand, though. Nate’s artificial intelligence assistant, Bingley, is the source of lots of humor, and I was a big fan of Rebecca and Nate’s sizzling chemistry as well. It’s safe to say Brooklynaire is one of my favorite books in the series.

Narrators Zachary Webber and Virginia Rose turn in convincing performances. Zachary Webber’s voice is so dead sexy I swear he could read a car manual and it would be a page-turner for me. Joe Hempel makes only the briefest of appearances, but his narration is nice as well. I definitely recommend the audiobook.
