Can these opposites turn up the heat… without burning down the house?

House-flipping sensation and YouTube star Maggie Nichols can’t wait to dig into her next challenge. Arriving in tiny Kinship, Idaho, with only a cot and a coffeemaker, Maggie is prepared to restore a crumbling Victorian mansion in four months or less. She has her to-do lists, her blueprints, and her team. What she doesn’t have is time for sexy, laid-back landscaper Silas Wright.

The man takes flirtation to a whole new level. And he does it shirtless…sometimes pants-less. He and his service school-dropout dog are impressively persistent. But she’s not interested in putting down roots. Not when fans tune in to watch her travel the country turning dilapidated houses into dream homes. A short-term fling on the other hand could fit nicely into her calendar. After all, Maggie remembers what fun is like. Vaguely.

As their summer gets downright steamy, Silas manages to demolish the emotional walls she’s spent years building, sending Maggie into a panic. He’s the wrench in her carefully constructed plans. With the end of the project looming, she has a decision to make. But how can she stay when her entire career is built on moving on?

Lucy Score is the reigning queen of small town rom coms! Maggie Moves On is the feel-good escape I’ve been waiting for. If you’re looking for a great vacation read, look no further.

Maggie Nichols is famous for her YouTube show where she quickly renovates and flips houses. She arrives in Kinship, Idaho, with plans to tackle her largest project yet: a dilapidated Victorian mansion. While rushing to meet deadlines and film episodes, Maggie deals with a romantic distraction, a centuries-old mystery, and a small town facing financial hardships. Along for the journey is her pessimistic business partner and best friend, Dean, whom I adored.

Maggie’s banter and chemistry with Silas Wright, the relentlessly flirtatious and ridiculously hot landscape architect, is addictive. He truly is Mr. Right. They click right from the start, even though Maggie is a workaholic loner and Silas is more of a laid-back people-person.Their romance is both hilarious and steamy. I couldn’t get enough.

There is so much to love about this story, but for me it’s more about the growth of Maggie’s character and the relationships she forms than the side mystery, her complicated family, or even the renovation project itself. Although, I did enjoy all those things, as well as several surprises.

It’s impossible not to have deep affection for Silas’s diverse and eclectic family—especially his moms and siblings. I loved the cute touches, like the funny group chats between the siblings and the comments left by Maggie’s YouTube subscribers at the end of chapters. And I can’t forget about Silas’s very disobedient but lovable dog, Kevin. His antics had me laughing out loud.

Maggie Moves On left me with a ridiculous smile on my face and a lightness in my heart. If that doesn’t scream BEACH READ then I don’t know what does.

  1. I’ve loved nearly every single one of Lucy Score’s books that I’ve been able to get my hands on, but this one didn’t quite hit the spot for me. I still enjoyed it and especially liked the found family trope here.
