As the hottest bodyguard on Security Force Omega, Oscar Oliveira has no trouble finding a warm body at any odd hour. But he's ready for more.

And for the first time in this ex-pro boxer's life, he just got rejected. For a kiss.

Oscar's friends warned him not to fall for the straight guy, but flirty, sexy-as-hell Jack Highland made that difficult. Now Jack has Oscar's sweater. His belt. His bandana. And Oscar seriously wants them back.

As for Jack – well, Jack wants a lot of things.

But for the first time in this confident filmmaker's life, he's absolutely 100%... confused. Add another ultra-complication in a sea of complicated: Enter Charlie Cobalt.

The enigmatic famous one that Oscar is sworn to protect wants his own show, and he's asked Jack to film it. A Charlie-centric docuseries will force Oscar & Jack to share the same air again.

Option 1: Ignore each other.
Option 2: Flirt, aw yeah. And act like the rejection never happened.
Option 3: Confront each other about the rejected kiss.

With options on the table and their romantic lives unsettled, both Jack & Oscar are concerned about why Charlie wants his own show. And the longer filming lasts, the more tumultuous their personal & professional worlds become.

Chaos reigns when you're around the Cobalts, and Jack & Oscar are swept up among the most destructive one.

I confess I’m a huge fan of the Like Us series. I’m totally obsessed with the famous families and the entire team of colorful bodyguards that protect them. I’m bummed that Charming Like Us didn’t knock my romance-loving socks off, but I still enjoyed reading it. I guess I’m still coming down off my Maximoff and Farrow high from Headstrong Like Us. I’m starting to think no other couple can touch them.

Charming Like Us is about snack-loving bodyguard Oscar Oliveira and his unrequited crush on Jack Highland, the straight docuseries producer. They make an adorable couple and I loved their flirty banter. I can’t put my finger on exactly why their love affair didn’t electrify me—I think part of it is a pacing problem—but there are so many other elements that did click for me.

Charming Like Us teaser

I loved getting to know Oscar better, and now I’m even more fond of him. I had no idea just how intelligent he is, how much he loves other people’s drama, or how challenging and exhausting it is to be Charlie Cobalt’s bodyguard. Speaking of, Charlie is perhaps the most complex, infuriating, and enigmatic character in the series. He is a puzzle I’ve been dying to solve and while he’s still a jerk, this book provides some insightful private moments that are like treasured missing pieces. I also appreciated having more clarity about Oscar’s tense relationship with his brother Quinn.

Jack is a ray of sunshine. I admired his integrity and his willingness to face his fears. We’re introduced to Jack’s little brother Jesse, who I adored. Their bond is warm and wonderful.

I appreciated the journey despite the convoluted nature of Charlie’s docuseries and the book’s sluggishness at times. I didn’t care for the ending, however. Nonetheless, this is a valuable addition to the series and shouldn’t be missed.

  1. I really enjoyed this one, but I get what you mean about their romance. Several reviews I read said that it was because neither of them are part of the Hale-Cobalt-Meadows crew. Maybe that was it?

    • I’m not sure that’s it. They’re still so close to the families and have a lot of interaction with them. I dunno…
