He’s No Prince Charming…

Callum Griffin is the heir to the Irish Mafia. He’s ruthless, arrogant, and he wants to kill me.

We got off on the wrong foot when I set a (very small) fire in his house.

Our families believe a marriage pact is the only thing that will prevent all-out warfare.

I think I might need to murder him while he sleeps.

This would all be a lot easier if Callum wasn’t so damned good-looking.

But I’ve got a lockbox around my heart. Because even if I’m forced to marry him…

I could never love a brutal prince.

“Brutal Prince” is the explosive first act in the epic “Brutal Birthright” series. It’s a stand-alone Dark Mafia Romance, complete with HEA and no cliffhangers. It contains blazing hot bedroom scenes for mature readers only!!!

Brutal Prince has one fatal flaw. Remember kindergarten, when you couldn’t wait for Show and Tell Day to show off your favorite collectible and see what your classmates brought? The telling part was ok, but it was the showing that really captured my attention. Brutal Prince suffers from too much telling and not nearly enough showing.

The book is actually a quick read because the story fast forwards a lot, leaving behind details that would make the characters and the plot more interesting. I’m not a huge fan of mafia romances, but for those who crave them, this may be a disappointment. It’s mafia lite. There’s mention of two mafia families and how dangerous they are—especially in the beginning—but that side is never truly seen and it’s easy to forget.

I love the cover and was excited to find out what makes strawberries so significant. It’s a shame that they aren’t used more throughout the story. There’s also no real chemistry between the main characters, and their shift from enemies to lovers is abrupt. All in all, a rather humdrum read.

  1. I hate when there’s too much telling and not enough showing. I think I might have read this one… but if I did, I didn’t love it because I haven’t gone back to read the rest of the series. Great review!
