Top 4 Authors Penny Reid Day 1

Many, many years ago, when I was but a wee lass… Where the hell did the Irish come from? I have no idea. And it was actually only three years ago, but it seems like a lifetime ago that I found a pot of gold in the form of a YA book titled Attraction by a new-to-me author, Penny Reid. Attraction is book one in the Laws of Chemistry trilogy. (Read review)

It definitely was a case of insta-love, because I was immediately blown away by Penny Reid’s fluid, witty, and extremely thoughtful writing style. I was drawn to the female main character in the book who is brilliant, hilarious, and extremely awkward. Little did I know at the time that intelligent, quirky characters are a hallmark of Penny Reid’s books.

The plot is addictive, and I tore my way through the series. Then I went through withdrawal. I needed another Penny fix. What does a strung out book junkie do? Run to Goodreads, of course. Lo and behold! I discovered she has a series of romantic comedies about a group of women in a knitting circle. The titles seemed kind of weird, but I needed more of this woman’s work! I bought Neanderthal Seeks Human (Book 1, Knitting in the City) and even added on the Audible Whyspersync. In for a penny, in for a pound (See what I did there?). The audio book is superb, by the way. Next thing you know, I’d read all the books in the series up to that point, and I was tapping my foot waiting for the next book to be released. And thus a fangirl was born.

I’ve had the pleasure of meeting Penny Reid in person, and I’m happy to report that she’s warm, funny, and generous with her time. Don’t you just love it when your favorite authors are kind in real life?

Who’s one of your favorite authors? Do you remember the first book you read by them?

  1. I love Penny Reid! I first found her through her Rugby series with LH Cosway. Then, I branched out and read the Winston Brothers. After that, Knitting in the Series. Her humor is smart and so much fun!
