The #1 New York Times bestselling author of It Ends with Us—delivers a tour de force novel about a troubled marriage and the one old forgotten promise that might be able to save it.
Quinn and Graham’s perfect love is threatened by their imperfect marriage. The memories, mistakes, and secrets that they have built up over the years are now tearing them apart. The one thing that could save them might also be the very thing that pushes their marriage beyond the point of repair.
All Your Perfects is a profound novel about a damaged couple whose potential future hinges on promises made in the past. This is a heartbreaking page-turner that asks: Can a resounding love with a perfect beginning survive a lifetime between two imperfect people?
“If you only shine a light on your flaws, all your perfects will dim.”
Romance readers typically want to read about people falling in love and living happily ever after. The fairytale is a nice distraction from mundane life, but the truth is that sometimes I hunger for more. What happens after the happily ever after? I’ve been married to the same man for quite some time, and it’s nice to see my truth reflected on the page every once in awhile.
It hit a little close to home at times, but I appreciated this romance about a married couple who have come to a crossroads despite loving each other. The book starts out in the past and features one of the most unique “meet cute” scenarios I’ve read. I instantly took a liking to Quinn and Graham. Colleen Hoover fluidly alternates every other chapter between then and now. It makes it easy to see why Quinn and Graham fall deeply in love with each other, and it serves as a stark contrast to the way they interact in the present.
I love that the entire story is told only from Quinn’s point of view. We know her every thought and action, but we never quite know what’s going on in Graham’s mind—only what she perceives. It makes it more real. When two people stop communicating—even two people who know each other as well as they know themselves—it creates an ever-widening gap filled with assumptions and misunderstandings. They are both responsible for the breakdown of their seemingly perfect marriage, but it’s super hard to find flaws in Graham who only wants to love Quinn but no longer knows the best way to do so. I understood Quinn’s survival techniques, but man did it hurt to see her push Graham away even while wanting him.
All Your Perfects is very emotional and touching—every joyous, painful, frustrating, and beautiful moment.
