I don’t read a lot of Young Adult novels. I feel like there’s just too much unnecessary drama in many of them or they contain problems that seem insignificant to me now. Trust me when I say that I get enough drama every day from my own three teens. So yeah, I’m selective when it comes to YA books. When It’s Real is light on drama and just plain fun.
For me, this book had two strikes against it from the get go: 1) I’ve only read one other Amy Harmon book, and I wasn’t impressed. *runs and hides* 2) I don’t read fantasy very often.

Blogging is a great hobby. It is satisfying to recommend books that readers might not discover otherwise. It is also a special privilege to be entrusted with an advanced copy of a book to review. I appreciate the opportunity to offer potential readers a reason to look forward to a book’s release. However, at times if feels like a stressful, unpaid job—complete with deadlines, behind the scenes logistics, and unrealistic expectations of myself. Whenever I need a tried and true escape, I know I can rely on the In Death series by J.D. Robb (AKA Nora Roberts). It’s hard to believe that Thankless in Death is the 37th book in the series.
