Review ♥ Attraction: Elements of Chemistry by Penny Reid

Review ♥ Attraction: Elements of Chemistry by Penny Reid

January 1, 2016 Angela New Adult, Reviews, Romance

I thought this would be an average New Adult opposites attract story, but it surpassed my expectations in every way. It’s extremely rare that I give five stars to a novella. That’s mainly because the short length doesn’t allow an author to sufficiently develop characters with whom I can connect. Novellas also tend to suffer from rushed or disjointed narratives. Such isn’t the case with Attraction: Elements of Chemistry #1.

The Score by Elle Kennedy

I utterly, completely fell in love with this book, and now I have the worst book hangover! It hits the mark in so many areas: banter, sexy hero, laugh out loud humor, sexy hero, emotional storyline, sexy hero. The Score is all that and a bag of chips. This is the third book in the Off-Campus series and it’s right up there with The Deal, which made my Top Ten of 2015 list.

Forbidden by CD Reiss

When I initially read the Songs of Perdition series, it only consisted of two books: Kick and Use. It seems like I’ve been waiting forever to find out what happened to Fiona. CD Reiss finally wrote the conclusion, Break, and then combined all three books into one full-length novel: Forbidden. Since I’ve already written reviews for Kick and Use, this review focuses primarily on Break.

Use is the second book in the Songs of Perdition series and although book 1, Kick, made me quite uncomfortable, I was all too willing to hop onboard the CD Reiss train again. I’m so glad I did because this time around was better than the first, and I enjoyed every moment of the fascinating, edgy journey.

If you’ve read my reviews, you know I’m a little stingy with my 5 stars. I don’t hand out 5 star reviews like Tic Tacs, so I’m still trying to justify giving 5 stars to this fluffy 131-page Rom Com. All I know is that in the midst of hectic Christmas preparations, I thoroughly enjoyed Tara Sivec’s well written, whimsical holiday love story from beginning to end.

Fisher’s Light by Tara Sivec

Fisher’s Light by Tara Sivec

This book starts out strong, and I loved the first half. It had me feeling all the feels: pissed one minute, devastated the next, teary, hopeful… the list goes on. However, somewhere about halfway the story loses steam and slips into overly sappy territory. It reads like a screenplay for a Hallmark movie. I actually like some Hallmark movies, especially if I’m in a sentimental mood.

Review & Excerpt ♥ Dirty Billionaire by Meghan March

Review & Excerpt ♥ Dirty Billionaire by Meghan March

Holy cannoli! There’s a heck of a lot of heat packed into these 166 pages of erotica. Dirty Billionaire is the first book in the Dirty Billionaire Trilogy. It’s aptly named because sexy alpha billionaire Creighton Karas must have a Master’s Degree in Dirty Talking. He probably has a Doctorate in Insanely Hot Bedroom Skills too since I’m pretty sure I’ve never heard of that thing he does with a bottle of whiskey. Be prepared to break out your fans.

Kick by CD Reiss

I feel conflicted about Kick. On the one hand, the writing is amazing: engaging, exciting, intense, and evocative. On the other hand, the main character, Fiona, deeply disturbs me. The fact that this is a novella with a well-rounded plot and a multi-dimensional main character, let alone a short story that causes discordant emotions, is a testament to CD Reiss’s skill as a writer.
