Review ♥ Every Breath by Nicholas Sparks
Every Breath is the first Nicholas Sparks book I have read. I wanted to love it but, unfortunately, I was underwhelmed.

I am a big fan of the True North series. I can’t get enough of the cozy Vermont town and the hard working, fun characters that live there. Fireworks is a second chance romance that has all the makings of a great addition to the series. Skye is my favorite part of the story. I related to her vulnerability and how she underestimates her worth. She is so loving and giving that I found myself wanting to fight all her battles. Benito is a hot cop and her ultimate dragon slayer. He is also Skye’s first love and breaker of teenage hearts. Reunited after 12 years apart, it’s time to heal old wounds and either stoke those old flames or extinguish them forever. There are quite a few aspects to keep you interested in this story in addition to the reunion. You have Benito’s major drug bust in the works, Skye’s creepy stepfather to contend with, the mystery of what went down around the time Skye left, and Skye’s job problems. It’s the story’s execution left me feeling lukewarm. It is told in alternating chapters from Skye’s and Benito’s perspectives—a pretty standard device in modern romances. There are also chapters that […]
You know that feeling, that great feeling, when a book has all your catnip? The writing seems nice enough, it’s keeping you entertained…and then it’s about 200 pages too long or something? Sweet Cheeks is a great example of that.
The Good Luck Charm is custom made for second chance romance lovers. Helena Hunting gives us some tension mixed with humor, and adds hockey to satisfy sports romance addicts like me. It’s a great combo.
I read Forever My Girl as part of the Ultimate Reading Challenge to read a book that has been adapted into a movie. I have to wonder if this is one of those rare cases where the movie is better than the book because the book just didn’t do it for me.
Frankly, I’m amazed by how much I’ve enjoyed every single Emma Chase book I’ve read—and by now I believe I’ve gone through her entire body of work. The winning streak continues with Getting Schooled. I brought this book with me on vacation, and I couldn’t have chosen a more perfect beach read. It’s pure hilarity and romance, without an ounce of silly conflicts to spoil the good times.
Christina Lauren, what have you done to me??? I am a hot mess right now. I’m talking about ALL the feels, ya’ll. Love and Other Words is an adult contemporary romance that is equal parts coming of age, friends becoming lovers, loss and heartache, and second chance romance—all combined in one potent fictional cocktail. It is 100% amazing!
February’s Ultimate Reading Challenge 2018: Tear Jerkers Audiobook Review Welp. I was looking for a good tear jerker and The Law of Moses has a ton of 5-star reviews. Many have mentioned how heartbreaking it is. This is clearly a case of it-must-be-just-me. I’m probably emotionally stunted or my tear ducts may be extremely clogged because I didn’t come close to shedding a tear. There are parts that are quite sad, but I felt detached from the story for the most part. I think the fact that I listened to the audio book may be to blame, but I’ll get to that in a minute.
Broadway, Hollywood, and a second a chance at romance. I’m a proud member of the Theatre Geek Society, so normally I’d be all over this story, but (you knew there was a but coming) there was one problem. Wicket Heart is the third book in the Starcrossed series. I already read the first book, Bad Romeo. You know how in some book reviews the reviewer says they didn’t love it, didn’t hate it? Well, suffice it to say that I pretty much hated Bad Romeo. I finished it, but then decided to wash my hands of the follow-up. When I heard there was a third book, I really didn’t give it a second thought. Some friends convinced me to give it a try, though, and you know what? It’s awesome.
Ghosted deserves all the stars in the galaxy plus those yet to be discovered. This book utterly consumed me, and I have zero guilt for shutting out everyone and everything while I devoured it.
Brooke Blaine is rapidly becoming a 1-click author for me. She proves why once again with A Little Bit Like Love, a second chance M/M romance that hit all the right notes with me. An ill-fated couple with incredible chemistry? Definitely. Heart? In abundance. Angst? You’ve got it. Colorful supporting characters with humor? Check. An antagonist you love to hate? Oh yeah.
Hello Forever is another example of just how sweet and real Sarina Bowen’s M/M romances are. That’s not to say there’s no heat, but the focus is on the emotional connection between the main characters.
