Tyler Westbrook, better known as Johnny Depth, is taking the adult film industry by storm. With his playboy looks, it’s no surprise a few coworkers have attempted to take things off set and into the bedroom, but Tyler refuses to blur the lines between work and play…until the new assistant to the director walks in.
Jemma Morgan was recently fired from a lead role on a kid’s TV show that was supposed to be her big break. Unable to get another acting gig, she's accepted a job in an industry she never expected to be a part of. Although she anticipates being shocked her first few days on set, nothing could prepare her for the moment she's asked to hold the reflector as her ex-boyfriend plows through a woman like a Kansas cornfield.
In a world of lube and fake moans, is there a place for a second chance? Exes and some serious ohs…the term ex-rated just took on a whole new meaning.
I think the cover of EXRATED is misleading because it looks quite serious and erotic. The story is about a hot young porn star so obviously it’s got to be sexy. What the cover doesn’t convey, however, is just how freaking hilarious this book is. It’s basically a rom-com with erotic elements, so you should be prepared for foul language, dirty talking, explicit sex, and lots of tongue-in-cheek humor.
Tyler and Jemma have loved each other since they were six. Despite a painful breakup and a four-year separation, their attraction is as strong as ever when they unexpectedly meet again. In her position as a production assistant—NOT a fluffer—Jemma has to work on set while Tyler films his porn scenes. It’s an uncomfortable situation to say the least, and she uses the awkwardness to get even with her ex, resulting in some hysterical scenarios. Their love-hate relationship is filled with witty barbs that I thoroughly enjoyed.
There’s definitely some heat and sexual tension between Jemma and Tyler. Surprisingly enough though, while the porn scenes are erotic, they’re mainly of the humorous rather than panty-melting variety. It’s an unexpected take that makes the story even more entertaining.
I want a friend like Jemma’s roommate, Heather. She probably has the foulest mouth I’ve ever seen and a wicked sense of humor. She’s crazy and loyal. Basically, Heather is the Thelma to Jemma’s Louise, and I loved her.
I didn’t understand some of Jemma’s decisions towards the end, but overall EXRATED is a fun and sexy romantic comedy. I will definitely read more of Stevie J. Cole’s work.
