Marlee thought she scored the man of her dreams only to be scorched by a bad breakup. But there's a new player on the horizon, and he's in a league of his own...
Marlee Harper is the perfect girlfriend. She's definitely had enough practice by dating her NFL-star boyfriend for the last ten years. But when she discovers he has been tackling other women on the sly, she vows to never date an athlete again. There's just one problem: Gavin Pope, the new hotshot quarterback and a fling from the past, has Marlee in his sights.
Gavin fights to show Marlee he's nothing like her ex. Unfortunately, not everyone is ready to let her escape her past. The team's wives, who never led the welcome wagon, are not happy with Marlee's return. They have only one thing on their minds: taking her down. But when the gossip makes Marlee public enemy number one, she worries about more than just her reputation.
Between their own fumbles and the wicked wives, it will take a Hail Mary for Marlee and Gavin's relationship to survive the season.
Color me impressed! Alexa Martin scores a touchdown in her debut novel, Intercepted, an entertaining sports romance centered around a fierce heroine.
I fell in love with Marlee! I loved her snarkiness, wit, integrity, and strength. I appreciated how she fully recognizes her shortcomings. I got a kick out of all the humorous hashtags peppered throughout the story that Marlee makes up to describe her life.
Gavin is the dreamy new hotshot NFL Quarterback. He always has Marlee’s back and is pretty much perfect. There’s some irritatingly clueless behavior on his part, but I certainly wouldn’t kick him out of bed for eating crackers. I would normally say the drama is unnecessary; however, in this case it allows the characters to grow, so it gets a pass from me.
The catty members of the WAGS club—Wives and Girlfriend (no “s” at the end as Marlee is made all too aware) of the football players—are a huge source of humor. Marlee’s take no prisoners attitude creates a fun battle of wits with the leader of the group. Marlee’s douche of an ex gives the reader even more reason to be #TeamMarlee.
If you take the colorful characters and add swoonworthy romance, football, and plenty of lighthearted humor, you have a delightful story that is a quick read. I’m so glad I took a chance on this author. I will definitely be reading more of her work.

Great review! I adored this book. I got tired of the #hashtags, but other than that I couldn’t get enough of it!
