I try to forget her. It’s impossible.
Growing up together, Conor and I shared all our firsts. First love, first kiss, first… Not all our firsts.
We were sixteen the night she was violently assaulted while I helplessly watched. I’ll never forget the sounds of her suffering. Or my inconsolable agony when she left Oklahoma.
Years later, she returns to honor our teenage pact. Except the boy she loved is gone, replaced by a ruthless cattle rancher knotted with secrets. She doesn’t know my dark cravings or the trails of sin that lead to her.
I don’t deserve her, but one truth remains. She’s mine.

April’s Ultimate Reading Challenge 2018: Single Word Title
Nobody does dark and dirty quite like Pam Godwin. Knotted is the first book in the Trails of Sin series, and if you like mysteries and sultry second chance romance, this book has you covered.
Conor and Jake are childhood sweethearts in this story about four best friends who grow up together on a ranch. The pair are teenagers at the start of the story, and their attraction is already intensely heady but also sweet. The author does a great job laying down the foundation for their romance, as well as establishing the bond between them, Conor’s brother, and Jake’s twin brother.
When the unthinkable happens, it sets off a cataclysmic chain of heart pounding, heart aching events that leave a trail of unanswered questions behind. I love a good mystery and I enjoyed putting all the missing puzzle pieces together. Parts of the story are raw, ugly, and disturbing. Other aspects are warm and erotic.
Why not more stars? It’s all Jake’s fault. As the years go by, he becomes a rogue, naughty, and wickedly sexy cowboy. You’ll get no complaints from me on that front. However, Jake’s questionable choices instigate a great deal of drama that could be avoided, and his behavior is presumptuous. Conor, on the other hand, is so easy to admire due to her incredible resiliency. She and the suspenseful mystery are the largest selling points of the story.
Knotted is a good introduction to the series, and my curiosity is primed to read Jarrett and Maybe’s story.
