Jewel E. Ann’s Jack & Jill trilogy remains one of my all-time favorites. It’s unique, suspenseful, funny, tragic, and romantic. While I hated saying goodbye to the characters I’d grown to adore, the ending was so satisfying that I didn’t dare ask for more. When I found out Jewel was writing Out of Love as a spinoff, my first thought was, “Don’t f*ck it up!” And she didn’t.
By all accounts, this ought to have been a home run. I have a huge soft spot in my heart for single parent romances, and it is very rare for me to not love a Sarina Bowen book. I’m bummed because while Lies & Lullabies is nice, the book lacks the luster I expected.
The Simple Wild was a solid 5-star read for me and, fortunately, this supremely satisfying sequel is everything I hoped it would be. Wild at Heart is filled with humor and heartwarming emotion. Another 5 stars.

It’s from Transcend by Jewel E. Ann. She really knows how to hook a reader, and this mind-bending story is well worth the read.
My opinion of Finding Freedom, in short: excellent fact checking, mediocre writing. I’m a firm Sussex supporter. The charitable endeavors by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, their obvious love for each other, and their warm demeanor quickly made me a fan. Even I have to admit, though, that the writing in this book is saccharine. Nobody is as perfect as Meghan is depicted.
After the longest dry spell, I finally found the perfect book for me at just the right time. I swear the planets aligned and angels sang. I could not sleep until I finished The Simple Wild, and when I reached the end at 4:30 am I had the goofiest smile on my face.

Oh man. Exodus, the conclusion of The Ravenhood Duet, is every bit the dark and twisted rollercoaster it is billed to be. Full disclosure: dark romances are hit or miss for me. I connect with some more easily than others. This one left me feeling too raw, too mentally and emotionally exhausted — with not enough payoff.
