Review: The Teacher by Freida McFadden
Long story short, The Teacher just wasn’t my cup of tea.
Long story short, The Teacher just wasn’t my cup of tea.
Ali Hazelwood, the reigning queen of STEM romances, dips her toes in the paranormal romance waters with Bride. Hazelwood is an auto-buy author for me, so I was especially curious to see how she would handle a genre that is, admittedly, not my favorite.
Liz Tomforde has officially become an auto-buy author for me. I’m loving her Windy City series, which enriches the sports romance genre to a surprising degree. She has tackled issues of mental health, negative body image, and toxic family relationships—all against the backdrop of professional sports. Caught Up now places the spotlight on the challenges of single parenting.
I can’t believe that one of my most favorite series has finally come to an end. *grabs tissues* After 13 books, I’m still as invested as ever in the Like Us characters. As with most endings, Nobody Like Us is bittersweet.

Welcome to Top Ten Tuesday, a weekly feature hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. This week’s topic is New-to-Me Authors I Discovered in 2023. There’s no better feeling than taking a chance on an author you’re unfamiliar with and discovering a new favorite. While I enjoyed some books more than others, I would definitely read more books by any of these authors.
The House in the Cerulean Sea received numerous accolades when it was released, and I’m happy to say it lives up to the hype. This whimsical audiobook delighted me from beginning to end.
Iron Flame is the heart pounding follow-up to the breakout hit Fourth Wing. Here are my overall thoughts.
Welcome to Top Ten Tuesday, a weekly feature hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. This week’s topic is Most Anticipated Books Releasing in the First Half of 2024. Many of my favorite authors have new books coming out. I can already hear my wallet weeping.
I typically like Ilsa Madden-Mills’s writing, but My Darling Bride is not her best work. It feels like the author rushed to put out this book, and it’s missing her usual charm and humor.
Lisa Jewell delivers another taut thriller with None of This Is True. I loved the concept of a well-known podcaster unexpectedly becoming a subject of her own true crime podcast.
How is it time for the Best Books of 2023 already? The year whizzed by in a flurry of activity, and I found that I had less time to read than normal. For the first time ever I was in danger of not meeting my reading goal, but I made it at the final hour! To be fair though, I choose to read some very long books. 60 books and 24,040 pages read. Here are ten books published in 2023 that I most enjoyed, in no particular order.
