I take it back; I like biker books after all. I’ve heard Susan Fanetti’s praises sung over and over, so I was eager to read one of her books. A friend suggested I start with this one, but I don’t consider myself to be a fan of Motorcycle Club books so I was braced for disappointment. Well butter my butt and call me a biscuit! I enjoyed the heck out of this novel.
Daniels’s Alabama Summer series just keeps getting better and better! When I Fall is Reed and Beth’s story, and to say I enjoyed it would be an understatement. In fact, it just became my new favorite J. Daniels book, edging out my long-time favorite, Sweet Addiction.
I confess that I had a misconception about adult ADHD. I assumed it was just a milder and more manageable version of childhood ADHD—essentially difficulty focusing and restlessness. Based on the book description, I couldn’t imagine how the author was going to stretch these relatively benign symptoms into a conflict worthy of a full-length novel.
All I Want is the second book in the Alabama Summer series and my favorite so far. The story picks up a year after Tessa broke up with Luke at the end of Where I Belong. Luke still hasn’t forgiven Tessa for breaking his heart and keeping an important secret from him. Rather than admit he still has feelings for Tessa, he tries to erase her from his memory by turning into a manwhore and flaunting his sexcapades in Tessa’s face.
I feel like I hit the jackpot with this book. I bought it because I heard it was a good college romance and I was in the mood for a light read. What I wound up with was the Swiss Army knife of books: humor, banter, sports, steamy sexy times, a little angst, and the feels – oh, the feels! – all rolled into one. This book has it all, and the superb writing captured my attention from the very first page.
What a whirlwind! Motorcycle Man packed it all into 522 pages: a strong heroine, a tough alpha male, the Russian mafia, an unconventional romance, commandos, a crazy ex-wife, kidnappings, teenage kids, motorcycle club dissension, biker babes, even cooking.
Recipe for a Good College Romance (a gif review): ✔ Take 1 loveable manwhore. ✔ Add 1 innocent college freshman. ✔ Combine romance and comedy. ✔ Mix until the chemistry is pretty hot. ✔ Gradually add some sadness. ✔ Stir in 1 break-up. ✔ Add a heaping portion of groveling. ✔ Sprinkle a dash of bromance. ✔ Chill for approximately 7 hours. If you read the book description you can pretty much predict the plot of The Deal, but that didn’t stop me from enjoying every bit of Hannah and Garrett’s journey toward their Happily Ever After. It was so easy to connect with both Hannah and Garrett that I couldn’t help but fall in love with them. As a couple, their chemistry was off the charts. The hilarious verbal sparring and surprisingly touching moments between the two helped elevate this simple enemies-to-lovers story. The Deal is funny and sweet, with a bit more steamy sexy times than your average New Adult novel. What was meant to be a quick weekend read turned into one of my favorite romances of 2015.
I’m a huge fan of Emma Chase’s Tangled series. There’s no love quite like your first love though so I approached Overruled with a combination of excitement and trepidation. I’m pleased to say I read it in one sitting so Emma Chase FTW! If you’re sensitive to themes of infidelity however, this might not be the book for you since cheating is involved – only not really. Let me break it down for you.
Sweet Addiction was my very first taste of erotica. The combination of baking and sex, sugar and spice made it the perfect introduction to the genre, and I jokingly blame J. Daniels for corrupting my sweet, innocent mind. I quickly gobbled up the second book, Sweet Possession, and I was sad to say goodbye to the quirky cast of characters I’d grown so fond of. So when I found out that man crazy Brooke was getting her very own book, I was beyond excited. J. Daniels crossing over characters from her Alabama Summer series? It was just icing on the cake.
