Team Player is a highly enjoyable sports romance anthology. This review covers Sweeping the Series by Kate Stewart, One Good Man by Emma Scott, Switch Hitter by Sara Ney, and Full Court Press by Kennedy Ryan.
Just when I thought my tender heart couldn’t handle another love triangle, I took a chance on Drive. Truthfully, if it had been written by anyone other than one of my favorite storytellers, Kate Stewart, I probably would have passed. Drive dragged me through a range of emotions—sometimes kicking and screaming—but man, what a great journey.
Kate Stewart has had success writing dramatic contemporary romance. She is equally adept at penning steamy romantic comedy. I’m pretty sure she woke up one morning, put on her crazy pants, and said, “What the heck. I’m gonna see if I can do it all!” The pleasant end result is The Brave Line.
Just when I think Kate Stewart can’t do any better, she manages to prove me wrong. I was a massive fan of her previous book, Anything But Minor, so this one had fairly large shoes to fill. Well, butter my butt and call me a biscuit if I didn’t enjoy Major Love just as much, if not more.
I’ve got a cure for anything that ails you, and it’s called Anything But Minor. Kate Stewart knocks it out of the park in this feel-good sports romance that’s hilarious, sweet, and deliciously sultry.
** This review contains possible spoilers pertaining to The Fall and The Mind. ** Having read The Fall and The Mind, I was more than ready for Rose to find happiness again. I had high expectations for this book, and Kate Stewart absolutely delivers.
I’m a huge Kate Stewart fan. I loved Loving the White Liar, and I was so spellbound by The Fall that it made my Top Ten of 2015 list. We are introduced to Rose and Grant in The Fall (the prequel to this book), and I was looking forward to the story of their whirlwind romance. The blurb makes it clear that the book isn’t intended for readers who dislike Insta-love – admittedly, something I’m not crazy about. The romantic in me appreciates the dedication: “For those who still believe in love at first sight.” The cynic in me, though, rejects that notion. Do I believe in attraction at first sight? Absolutely! Love? Not so much.
I suspected Kate Stewart was a talented writer when I read Loving the White Liar, but reading The Fall has made me a true believer. The Fall is a second chance love story that well exceeded my expectations.
I confess that I had a misconception about adult ADHD. I assumed it was just a milder and more manageable version of childhood ADHD—essentially difficulty focusing and restlessness. Based on the book description, I couldn’t imagine how the author was going to stretch these relatively benign symptoms into a conflict worthy of a full-length novel.
