Two good neighbors make the best of a bad Valentine’s Day in a funny and improbably romantic short story by the #1 New York Times bestselling author of Just for the Summer.

It’s Valentine’s Day weekend, and Charlotte and Seth are not looking for romance. Armed with emotional-support bear spray, Charlotte is in self-imposed isolation and on guard from men. Having a stalker can do that to a person’s nerves. Just across the hall and giving off woodsy vibes is Seth, a recently divorced arborist. As in today recently. Heights, he’s fine with. Trust? Not so much. But when disaster traps them one flight up and no way down, an outrageously precarious predicament forces a tree-loving guy and a rattled girl next door to embrace their captivity. Soon their defenses are breaking away. Considering how close they both are to the edge, Charlotte and Seth could be in danger of falling—in love.

I will drop everything to read whatever Abby Jimenez writes: a book, a manifesto, a diary entry, a grocery list. So even though I almost always find novellas disappointing, of course your girl was going to read The Fall Risk. Still, I was surprised by how enjoyable it was.

Review: First-Time Caller by B.K. Borison

Review: First-Time Caller by B.K. Borison

April 24, 2025 Angela Reviews, Romance

I decided to take a chance on listening to the audiobook of First-Time Caller, even though I’m new to B.K. Borison’s work and unfamiliar with either narrator. The risk paid off, because what I discovered was a low-drama, swoony romance, with immensely appealing characters and soothing narration.

Review: Fangirl Down by Tessa Bailey

November 26, 2024 Angela Reviews, Romantic Comedy

I’ve been in one heck of a book slump, and Fangirl Down yanked me right out of it. Not even two chapters into the audiobook, and I was smiling like a dork. It’s a very spicy rom com about a burned out grumpy golf pro who falls hard for his diehard fan. There’s just something about a bad boy falling first—and falling hard—that’s so enjoyable. I was surprised by how much respect Wells shows the heroine. Josephine is such a gem—independent, fun, kind, and talented.

Audiobook Review: Caught Up by Liz Tomforde

February 15, 2024 Angela Reviews, Sports Romance

Liz Tomforde has officially become an auto-buy author for me. I’m loving her Windy City series, which enriches the sports romance genre to a surprising degree. She has tackled issues of mental health, negative body image, and toxic family relationships—all against the backdrop of professional sports. Caught Up now places the spotlight on the challenges of single parenting.
