Meghan March serves up another winning addition to the Beneath series with Beneath These Chains. This is the third book in the series, and it’s filled with intrigue and suspense, plus all the steam I’ve come to expect from Ms. March. This story is about Lord—Con’s brother—and Elle—Vanessa’s best friend from Beneath This Ink.
I’m keeping this one short. I really enjoyed Misconduct. I love tough heroines—particularly smart ones that have overcome tragedy or adversity. Easton is flawed and difficult, but it makes her more relatable, and her brains and creativity are super appealing.
This is book porn, plain and simple. I like my smut in small amounts, and I practically overdosed while reading Backstage Pass. There’s a ton of sex—like scene after scene after scene of E-R-O-T-I-C sex—but virtually no plot.
I really enjoyed this conclusion to the Dirty Girl Duet. Dirty Love picks up right where the jaw-dropping cliffhanger left off, and it gains steam from there. Speaking of steam, Dirty Love is aptly named. You need to have a fan, cold shower, change of panties, or something on hand because Cav speaks dirty talk fluently, and this little gem is one dirty, dirty, dirty, panty-melting read. I mentioned it’s dirty, right?
One word: Cliffhanger. I want to put it out there up front because the blurb doesn’t indicate there’s a cliffy, and this book has a heck of a one. The Anatomy of Jane is a departure for J.J. McAvoy, writing under the pen name Amelia LeFay, and she successfully crosses over into the male/male (and male/male/female!) romance sub-genre in a story that is intoxicating and erotic.
I know from reading Meghan March’s Dirty Billionaire trilogy that the woman writes some seriously scorching erotica. She also creates the most wild and entertaining storylines. Her serials are a bit of a guilty pleasure for me, and Dirty Girl provides the signature escapism I’ve come to expect.
Wow. Sugar Daddy is every bit as steamy as I’ve come to expect from a Sawyer Bennett novel, only edgier. It’s almost like an addictive, well-written X-rated soap opera. You’ve got a super nasty villain, a determined heroine, and a massively likable hero. Throw in a huge mystery, some devious plotting, and a wildly sexy romance, and I was sold.
I think the cover of EXRATED is misleading because it looks quite serious and erotic. The story is about a hot young porn star so obviously it’s got to be sexy. What the cover doesn’t convey, however, is just how freaking hilarious this book is. It’s basically a rom-com with erotic elements, so you should be prepared for foul language, dirty talking, explicit sex, and lots of tongue-in-cheek humor.
I don’t have a lot to say about Trust except Ella Frank blew me away. It’s like she peeked inside my mind, saw everything I hoped to feel, learn and see, and then she wrapped it all up in an appealing package just for me. Sometimes a series peters out and I find myself wishing the author had quit while she/he was ahead. I thought the Temptation series just kept getting better and stronger.
A dark student-teacher romance is not something you come across often. In fact, I’m not sure I’ve ever read one. I don’t read a lot of dark romances, and student-teacher hookups involving minors make me hesitant. The synopsis for Dark Notes intrigued me, though, and the performing artist in me loved the fact that the book incorporates music. I decided to give it a go, and the payoff was well worth the risk.
Somebody find me a 12-step program because I am seriously addicted to this series. ARCs be damned. They’re going to have to wait. It only took me three days to read the first two books and I will start the final one, Trust, as soon as I finish writing this review.
Try is the first book I’ve read by Ella Fox and only my second M/M book. It pushed me a little bit out of my comfort zone, but it was impossible for me to put down.
