I admit I was nervous that American Prince wouldn’t live up to the amazing angst fest that is American Queen. I needn’t have worried. Sierra Simone delivers a stunning tour de force with this follow-up, and my mind is still reeling.

I’m surprised by how much I enjoyed this. The childhood boyfriend who goes away to college and comes back a changed man plot is nothing new, and I either enjoy or loathe love triangles depending on my mood and the story. Black Swan Affair is decidedly different though. Mystery, backstabbing, and selfless love elevate what could be your typical love triangle into something wonderfully complex and unpredictable.
Moonshot is a forbidden romance, sports romance, and a murder mystery rolled into one intriguing package.
Reading One True Loves felt a lot like falling in love. For me, it started out as a hesitant attraction to the story and quickly evolved into a passionate affair. I was fully invested and wanted the wonderful feeling to last. As things evolved, however, and complications arose, I braced myself for heartache. I was no longer certain what a fairy tale ending looked like. I just knew the love story would end, and someone would wind up getting hurt.
It’s amazing how two chapters can ruin a book for me. I had some issues with the story, but Forgetting August was on its way to being a 4-star read. It’s an interesting second-chance romance that not only tells of a second chance at love, but a second chance at life as well.
This was a tough book for me to get through, and I can’t fault the quality of the writing because it’s excellent. Perhaps I should have paid closer attention to the blurb because it makes no secret of the fact that the main character, Sadie, enters into a love affair with her neighbor, Finn. In my mind though, there’s “justifiable” cheating in a fictional world where I’m rooting for the two cheaters to get together because the partner/spouse is so annoying, abusive, and obviously just plain wrong for the lead character. Things aren’t so cut and dry in Slip of the Tongue and the prolonged affair made me very uncomfortable.
The Ground Rules Undone is the thrilling conclusion to The Rule Breakers trilogy. When we left off, Mirella was in one hell of a pickle. Told entirely from her point of view, this story focuses on the consequences of Mirella and Weston deviating from the rules. Unlike the previous books, there’s very little sex, yet the chemistry is still insane in this combustive love triangle.
Whew! Well, this book is aptly named. Virtually every chapter in the first half contains sex scenes. We’re talking panty melting, grab your fan, look-up-erotica-in-the-dictionary-and-see-this-book’s-cover sex scenes.
Getting Rough is the second book in the Monkey Business trio. It continues the enemies to lovers story of Shaw and Cassidy, two competitive sports agents. The first book, Playing Dirty, heavily emphasized their animosity, and I enjoyed their verbal sparring and underhanded rivalry—not to mention their smoking hot chemistry. This book, however, focuses more on their transition from adversaries to acquaintances to lovers.
I loved this book HARD! I swear it’s like literary crack. I defy you to read one chapter and stop because Tarryn Fisher has crafted a breathtaking story that is exhilarating and captivating from the very first page to the last.
