How to protect your heart: Let your bodyguard have it.
Jane Cobalt is an American princess. The loyal and painfully curious twenty-three-year-old has inherited immense pressure to preserve the Cobalt legacy. But for Jane — sex, love, and life have been a series of royal failures.
After a friends-with-benefits ended in disaster, she's sworn to a “no sex” hiatus for, well, eternity — and she has no intention of letting anyone in her bed and definitely not her heart.
Twenty-eight-year-old Thatcher Moretti is painfully professional. As the stern 24/7 bodyguard to Jane, thinking about unbridled sex with his sweet client is a sin. One that he keeps committing.
But the real act is a hard line he’d never cross.
When a family member betrays Jane's trust, the media becomes obsessed with matchmaking the perpetually “single” Jane Cobalt and unwanted attention suddenly compromises her safety.
Thatcher would do anything to protect her, and one solution may level the threats:
Become the fake boyfriend to an American princess.
Entwined together with boiling chemistry, new “professional” parameters, and an oath, unsaid feelings threaten to rise and change everything.
The Like Us series is a true series, one continuous timeline, that follows a family of wealthy celebrities and the people that protect them.

The good news is I’m still obsessed with the Cobalt, Hale, and Meadows clan, as well as their 24/7 bodyguards. In preparation for reading Tangled Like Us, I re-read the first three books in the Like Us series, and I fell madly in love with the characters all over again. I started this book on such a high, which made the fact that it didn’t wow me more disappointing.
The fake dating operation orchestrated by the lead bodyguards feels very contrived—both in its concept and execution. At first, Jane and Thatcher didn’t click for me as a fake couple or a real couple. Jane is such an eccentric bright light that Thatcher seems rather dull in comparison. As I came to know more about Thatcher, though, I grew to see how Jane could feel more than just physical attraction towards him. It also puts some of his joy sucking behavior in previous books into perspective.
The chemistry between Thatcher and Jane may have started off lukewarm, but the heat gets turned way up. In case you think Jane might be demur in bed or Thatcher could be a boring lover, let me assure you that is most definitely not the case. Prepare yourselves for some seriously steamy sexy times!
The plot is a little slow, but I liked the addition of a new adversarial character. It adds a welcome element of intrigue and conflict. The fact that things are not tidied up in a tidy bow at the end of Tangled With Us has me looking forward to continuing the story, seeing Thatcher’s character develop more, and enjoying more time with the whole gang.
About the Audiobook
I think Stephen Dexter was miscast as Thatcher. I expected that a brawny man who is 6’7” tall would have a very deep and possibly even gravelly voice—which Stephen Dexter does not have—but maybe that’s just me. My main issue, though, is that his speech is slow and not annunciated, and it makes Thatcher seem less intelligent. Also, his occasional hyper enthusiasm comes across as disingenuous. Holly Warren does a fine job bringing Jane to life.
