A sexy standalone novel from New York Times and international bestselling author Elle Kennedy

Everyone says opposites attract. And they must be right, because there’s no logical reason why I’m so drawn to Colin Fitzgerald. I don’t usually go for tattoo-covered, video-gaming, hockey-playing nerd-jocks who think I’m flighty and superficial. His narrow view of me is the first strike against him. It doesn’t help that he’s buddy-buddy with my brother.

And that his best friend has a crush on me.

And that I just moved in with them.

Oh, did I not mention we’re roommates?

I suppose it doesn’t matter. Fitzy has made it clear he’s not interested in me, even though the sparks between us are liable to burn our house down. I’m not the kind of girl who chases after a man, though, and I’m not about to start. I’ve got my hands full dealing with a new school, a sleazy professor, and an uncertain future. So if my sexy brooding roomie wises up and realizes what he’s missing?

He knows where to find me.

What a fun start to what I predict will be a winning series. I fell in love with Briar University and their hockey team in the Off-Campus series. Most of the players have graduated, so now is the perfect time for a fresh start with the new Briar U series.

Top 5 Things I Loved About The Chase:

  1. Summer’s humor
  2. Summer’s vivaciousness
  3. Summer’s fashion sense
  4. Summer’s determination
  5. Summer’s vulnerability

It’s fair to say that Summer steals the show.

Summer and Fitz could not be more different. Summer is a privileged, bubbly, life of the party beauty. She’s still figuring out what she wants to be when she grows up. Fitz is a talented tattooed introvert—equal parts artsy gaming geek and quiet hot jock. He has a clear goal in mind, and his eyes are on the prize.

Fitzy pulls some douche canoe moves in my opinion, and I wanted to scream at him to just man up already! Truly, Summer is too good for him, but he wound up endearing himself to me.

The story is very entertaining. You have a love triangle, a smarmy professor, a hockey rivalry, a dream job opportunity, coursework pressure, familial issues, and…I could go on. There might be too many things happening given the length of the novel, though, because the ending is untidy. I don’t mind some unresolved conflicts between main characters because that just gives me more to look forward to in future books. However, I was left unsatisfied that some threads weren’t seen through to their full conclusion.

The women shine like stars in this book. Brenna! She’s a ride or die friend, ballsy, sarcastic, and unpredictable. We get her story in book two, The Risk, and I can’t wait!
