From the New York Times bestselling author Freida McFadden comes a chilling story of twisted secrets and long-awaited revenge.
Lesson #1: Trust no one.
Eve has a good life. She wakes up each day, kisses her husband Nate, and heads off to teach math at the local high school. All is as it should be. Except…
Last year, Caseham High was rocked by a scandal involving a student-teacher affair, with one student, Addie, at its center. But Eve knows there is far more to these ugly rumors than meets the eye.
Addie can’t be trusted. She lies. She hurts people. She destroys lives. At least, that’s what everyone says.
But nobody knows the real Addie. Nobody knows the secrets that could destroy her. And Addie will do anything to keep it quiet…
Long story short, The Teacher just wasn’t my cup of tea.
This book should have come with a trigger warning, but I understand that it would have been impossible to do so without spoiling the plot. View Spoiler »
Told from multiple viewpoints, The Teacher is broken up into short chapters that keep the story moving. The author does a good job portraying the naivete and overly dramatic nature of a typical teenage girl. I just wish the writing itself didn’t seem so juvenile. The whole plot is rather predictable, with the exception of the ending, which throws in some twists that left me scratching my head in confusion. It’s not one of those endings that stays with you in a good way either, but rather leaves you with an uncomfortable itch to analyze plot holes.
Ultimately, I didn’t care for any of the characters, so I wasn’t very invested in what happened to them.
Here’s hoping my reading slump will end soon.
That sounds disappointing. I hope next read is better.
Ha damn Angela! Yet I want to read it as I am a fan of her work!
I was not a fan either!
I’m glad it wasn’t just me!
Shoot! Sorry this one didn’t work for you. I have heard such good things about this author.
