From the best selling series, Something So comes the spin-off series This is...
Zara Stone
All my life, I’ve said I will never date a hockey player. I know better because I’ve seen and lived it all. My father is a hockey god, my brother is the captain of the most successful NHL team in the world, and my brother-in-law also plays in the league. Their lives are complicated, so I went in the opposite direction.
I fell in love with a scholar. But instead of proposing marriage, he broke up with me.
Three months later, I saw his engagement picture on Instagram. I couldn’t let him get away with that. No, it didn’t matter what, I was going to make that man see that I did not need him.Evan Richards
I was in the running to pass my point record from last year, ready to claim the number one spot in the league. On top of my game, I was riding my career high wave.
Then, Hockey’s Princess, Zara Stone tweeted me. She wanted me to crash her ex’s wedding.
The worst that could happen? A PR nightmare. The best? A fun night with a beautiful woman.
It started out as a game—something I’m good at. Her crazy idea twisted into something I wasn’t looking for, something neither of us wanted. When push comes to shove, one thing runs through my mind:
This is Crazy. Also, this is crazy right.
This is Crazy has the makings of an entertaining romance. After Zara Stone’s long-term boyfriend breaks up with her only to get engaged to someone else, she is heartbroken and ready for revenge.
The idea of her getting even by dating her ex-boyfriend’s hockey idol is fun, but I got fixated on the fact that her proposition makes no sense. She posts a tweet asking pro hockey star Evan Richards if he’ll help crash her ex’s wedding—not date her. The ex literally just got engaged. How could she crash a wedding that hasn’t even been planned yet?
Anywho, Zara and Evan proceed to date. I have no idea what they see in each other because the only thing that’s emphasized is how physically attracted they are to each other. If Evan called her Sweet Zara or Beautiful one more time I thought I’d lose my mind. Surely, there’s something more that appealed to him besides her beauty. Their relationship is so one-dimensional that it falls flat for me. Because neither character is well-developed, there is no room for growth
The one thing I was looking forward to was her ex being jealous when he finds out Zara is with Evan, but it’s another missed opportunity. I did like Zara’s relationship with her twin sister; however, unfortunately, this was a disappointing read for me overall.
Oh, I hope your next book is better. I don’t like it when the only attraction is physical either.
I hope next book turns out better. Great review!
Thanks. Me too!
I can’t remember what I thought of this one, but I feel like it was somewhere in this spin off series that I started to not love the books and gave up reading hers. Made me sad because I adored the Something So series.
