Welcome to Top Ten Tuesday, a weekly feature hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. This week’s topic is Series I’d Like to Start/Catch Up On/Finish. Oh boy. This one definitely falls under the so many books, so little time category. There are some series that involve a big time commitment because of the number of books or the length of books. Also, sometimes I read books out of order, and even though I intend to go back and read the books I’ve skipped, I get distracted. Then there are those series that everyone raves about that have been on the back burner in my mind.
1. Outlander by Diana Gabaldon – Start
I usually feel like the book is better than any film adaption. I absolutely loved this TV series, though, and I’m curious to see how true to the books it is. I also just need more of Claire and Jamie. |
|
2. Signal Bend by Susan Fanatic – Finish
This series is so suspenseful and heartfelt, with unforgettable characters. It’s been a few years since I’ve visited Signal Bend, but I’m excited to go back. I only have a couple books left to read. |
|
3. The Boston Belles by L.J. Shen – Catch Up On
I confess I wasn’t a fan of the first book in the series, but the second book sounds delicious. Nobody writes a lovable anti-hero like L.J. Shen, so I plan to give this series another shot. |
|
4. Madigan Mountain – Finish
The first two books in this trilogy, written by Sarina Bowen and Rebecca Yarros respectively, made me want to book a vacation to a ski resort ASAP. Please note that I do not, in fact, ski. I would love to read the last book written by Devney Perry. |
|
5. A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas – Start
I guess I’m finally succumbing to FOMO. Everyone and their grandmother gushes over this series. While fantasy isn’t typically my thing, I admit I’m curious about the world Sarah J. Maas has created. |
|
6. In Death by J.D. Robb – Catch Up On
There are now 50+ books in this mystery/romantic suspense terrific series. I’ve always bought the hardbacks the minute they came out. Still do. My husband (Yes, I got him addicted to the series) and I used to fight over who got to read the books first. Now, though, I’ve fallen behind, and he’s completely up to date. |
|
7. The Walsh Family by Kate Canterbary – Catch Up On
I am such a rebel. I have read this series completely out of order, but I’ve enjoyed getting to know the Walshes and the partners they chose. I need to go back and fill in the gaps. |
|
8. The Brentwood Boys by Meghan Quinn – Finish
I’ve enjoyed these baseball boys and the comic antics they get up to. I only have one book left and then I’ll be done with the series. |
|
9. S.I.N. by K. Bromberg – Finish
I only recently read the first book in this trilogy about sinfully rich triplets who head an exclusive resort empire. I’d like to read the other two books in the series. |
|
10. Like Us by Krista and Becca Ritchie – Catch Up On
This ongoing series about the rich and famous and the bodyguards that protect them had me hooked from book one. There are typically two to three books that cover separate couples. I’m just waiting for a couple more books to come out so that I can get caught up. |
I read the first 3 of the Outlander books and they are very good, and are so much more detailed than the show. But, they are also very long books.
#4 and # 8 are so good! You’re in for fun there.
I read and loved the first Outlander book, but the second one started out slow and I put it down. I meant to get back to it, but I just haven’t managed to yet. I haven’t watched the TV series, but I’m hoping to at some point. I’ve heard great things.
I’ve heard the beginning of the first book is almost unbearably slow, but then it picks up.
